Avid Systems is seeking a highly experienced Senior Windows Server System Administrator to design, implement, and maintain an enterprise-scale Windows server infrastructure. This role requires deep expertise in Windows Server technologies, virtualization platforms, and cloud environments, combined with a proven track record of managing complex enterprise systems. The successful candidate will play a critical role in optimizing system performance, ensuring security compliance, and leading technical initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Plan and execute server upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities to ensure optimal system performance.
- Manage virtualization platforms such as Hyper-V and VMware, and cloud platforms like Azure or AWS.
- Implement and oversee robust backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Monitor system performance and conduct capacity planning to ensure scalability and reliability.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, processes, and procedures.
- Provide escalated technical support, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for complex system issues.
- Mentor junior system administrators, providing guidance and technical leadership.
- Participate in on-call rotations for critical system support.
Skills & Qualifications:
Required Technical Skills
- 7+ years of experience administering Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022).
- Expert knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
- Strong experience with virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V or VMware.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation with PowerShell.
- Proven experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, firewalls).
- Experience with performance monitoring tools and system optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools like SCCM or Ansible.
- Knowledge of container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
- Experience working with cloud platforms like Azure or AWS.
Preferred Technical Skills
- Knowledge of security compliance frameworks, such as HIPAA.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Microsoft certifications (MCSE, MCSA, or newer role-based certifications) required. Advanced technical certifications are a plus.
