Job description
Avid Systems is seeking a Senior Researcher to support the DC Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) in driving data-driven innovation for government services. The candidate will play a key role in the Innovation Team (i-Team), which focuses on digital transformation, human-centered design, and data analytics to modernize systems and improve city services. This role involves quantitative and qualitative research, stakeholder collaboration, and the development of data-driven policy solutions that directly impact the lives of DC residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, analyze, and present quantitative and qualitative data to support innovation initiatives.
- Conduct trend analysis, comparative analysis, and data validation using statistical software.
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact of policy and innovation projects.
- Create data visualizations and dashboards to communicate insights effectively.
- Plan and facilitate co-creation workshops with government agencies and community stakeholders.
- Oversee prototyping and testing efforts for proposed solutions.
- Collaborate with intergovernmental partners to improve service delivery and policy outcomes.
- Work with large datasets and apply statistical analysis techniques to identify key insights.
- Ensure data-driven decision-making across innovation projects.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 3+ years of experience managing data and conducting quantitative analysis.
- Strong knowledge of quantitative and statistical analysis techniques.
- Experience in data visualization using Tableau, GIS software, or similar tools.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (macros, pivot tables, etc.).
- Proficiency in STATA, R, SAS, or similar big-data software.
- Strong ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and comfortable giving and receiving feedback.
- Master’s degree in statistics, social science, public policy, or a related field.
Preferred:
- Experience working with government agencies.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies for scoping, scheduling, and stakeholder coordination.
- Ability to build partnerships with data providers and stakeholders in the public and private sectors.
- Experience with policy evaluation and performance measurement.
